LANDSCAPE OF PRESERVED DOCUMENTS
The installations embody the idea of collective memories and the impression of political actions on the human landscape. A constricted cube, made up of sponge, is soaked in black ink. Absorbing the fluid material, it is as though it is symbolically absorbing the history of its surroundings. Emerging like hidden wounds from underneath the smooth surface of contemporary aesthetics, the cube references a vehement, geopolitical reality of the present day.
The ink pattern on the surface of the cube evokes the old Chinese mountain landscape paintings where the perceived terrain, in constant flux, shows the build-up of a monochromatic landscape. Fluid and soft, yet constricted within the cube, the landscape is but an impression of society's collective memories.
