FIELD

1995-2004

When I was ten years old, my parents and I usually visited Kirkuk in northern Iraq. Together with other children I danced and played at a place where the soil was rich in oil. When we threw stones at the ground, the stones flamed and lit up around us. We called them (the magic fire). To this day, it reminds me of how our environment is always in flux, the feeling of living on a ground that always threatened to flow a way or sink where the experience of the warm and inviting are always forced to be identified by the burning danger.
